What is the SAT exam?
SAT is an abbreviation for the word Scholastic Assessment Test In English, it is a general proficiency examination for admission to universities, higher education institutions and schools in the United States of America and Canada.
Is the SAT exam mandatory?
Although passing the SAT is required for freshmen admission to many colleges and universities in the United States, during 2010, many institutions made these admission tests optional.

SAT test sections
The study test consists of four sections
The first section: Reading and Grammar: This is the section that includes 52 questions. The duration of the test in this section and answering the questions is about 65 minutes.
The second section, Writing and Language: The second section of the test includes 44 questions, and the duration of answering this section of the exam is about 35 minutes.
The third section, Mathematics: It is the section designated for the test in, and the mathematics test includes questions about algebra and functions, arithmetic and geometry, numbers, and arithmetic operations. This section is divided into two parts:
- The first part is not allowed For the student using a calculator: It lasts 25 minutes, during which the student is tested on about 20 multiple-choice questions in mathematics.
- The second part is permission In this part, the student uses a calculator: It lasts 55 minutes, during which the student is tested on about 38 questions in mathematics as well.

Cost of the SAT test
The cost of the SAT test is $49.50 without the essay section, ($64.50 with the optional essay), excluding late fees. With an additional processing fee if the SAT is taken outside the United States.
Additional fees apply for late registration, stand-up testing, scoring changes, telephone scores, and additional score reports (other than the four provided free). The overall cost of the SAT test in this case can reach approximately $100.

1- Reading test
- The test in the reading section has one section of 52 questions and a time duration of 65 minutes.

3- Mathematics Test Section
The mathematics portion of the test is divided into two parts: the mathematics test using a calculator and the other without using a calculator.
1- The first section using a calculator:
- The Math Test - Calculator section contains 38 questions (30 multiple choice and 8 nested questions) and lasts 55 minutes.
- 45 multiple choice questions and 13 written questions.

2- The second section without using a calculator:
- The Math Test - Without Calculator section contains 20 questions (15 multiple choice questions and 5 regular answers) and lasts 25 minutes.
- A subscale score (on a scale of 1 to 15) is reported for each of the three categories of mathematics content:
- Algebra (linear equations, systems of linear equations, and linear functions)
- “Problem solving and data analysis” (statistics, modeling, and problem-solving skills)
- Advanced Mathematics “Nonlinear Expressions, Roots and Exponentials”.

Questions on the SAT exam model
Most of the questions on the SAT test, with the exception of the optional essay and mathematics writing answers, are multiple-choice questions.
All multiple choice questions have four answer choices, one of which is correct. Thirteen of the questions on the mathematics portion of the test (about 22% of all mathematics questions) are not multiple choice.
Reading SAT scores
Section grades are given on a scale from 200 to 800. Each section's score is a multiple of ten. Total SAT scores are calculated by adding the two section scores, resulting in a total score that ranges from 400 to 1600.
In addition to the grades for the two sections, three grades are given on a scale from 10 to 40, one for each Reading, writing, language and mathematics , with an increment of 1 for reading/writing and language, and 0.5 for mathematics.

The optional essay will not be offered after June 2021. College Board also said it will discontinue the essay section because “there are other ways for students to demonstrate proficiency in writing essays,” including the reading and writing portion of the test. He also acknowledged that the COVID-19 pandemic had played a role in the change, accelerating “a process already underway.”
