KYOTO University Scholarship to study in Japan, fully funded

Before enrolling in the KYOTO University Scholarship, the student must review the following statement.

KYOTO University offers two types of scholarships. Please see the table below for details (such as amounts awarded for each type of scholarship).

These scholarships are competitive and available to students who demonstrate high academic performance. Information about other scholarships that students can apply for after enrolling is available here.

KYOTO University Scholarship includes

  • A salary of 1 Japanese yen annually.
  • Tuition fee exemption
  • Exemption from admission fees
  • Duration of the scholarship for Master’s students: two years only.
  • The duration of the scholarship for doctoral students is only years.

Register for the scholarship

Each of the following conditions must be met to enroll in the KYOTO University Scholarship:

  • Holding a bachelor’s degree to apply for a master’s degree.
  • Holding a master’s degree to apply for a doctorate.
  • Students who will join the College of Engineering must have a high average in the final certificate.
  • Proof of English language proficiency, TOEFL or IELT. Read more about official English language tests..

Once all applications for KYOTO University Scholarship are reviewed, offers of admission will be sent to successful candidates. These candidates will then be required to complete registration payments and submit certain required documents by the deadlines listed below. Please ensure that all necessary documents and payments are submitted by the deadline, as failure to do so may result in our offer of admission being withdrawn. Please make sure you have sufficient funds before applying.

Documents required for registration

  • A copy of the passport or ID.
  • The last certificate you obtained must be translated.
  • A statement of the student’s grades for the last academic degree obtained, translated into English.
  • Motivation letter.
  • At least two letters of recommendation.
  • Biography.
  • Training certificates if you have them.
  • Work experience certificates if you have previous experience.
  • Volunteer certificates if you participated previously With volunteer opportunities.
