Tianjin Government Scholarship

The Tianjin Government One-Year Scholarship is open to both future students and current students at Tianjin University.

Tianjin Government Scholarship Conditions

• The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People's Republic of China, and be in good health.
• Applicants for a master’s degree must hold a bachelor’s diploma and be under the age of 35.
• An applicant for a doctoral degree must hold a master’s diploma and be under the age of 40.

Language requirements:

• For Chinese-language school programs: Students must submit HSK-5 certificates with a minimum score of 180. Native Chinese speakers and applicants who are completing their undergraduate/master's studies in Chinese are allowed an exemption from submitting HSK certificates.
• For English-language programs: Students must provide proof of English language. A TOEFL score of 80 or IELTS score of 6.0 is mandatory. Native English speakers are allowed to be exempt from providing relevant certificates. For applicants who are completing their undergraduate/master's studies in English, they can submit their undergraduate study certificate in English as an alternative to TOEFL or IELTS.
• The minimum language requirement for the MBA in English is a TOEFL score of 85 or an IELTS score of 6.5.

• Applicants must have good behavior, good physical and mental health, and be willing to comply with the laws and regulations of China and Tianjin University.

Paperwork

Please upload all documents listed below to the application system:

1. Scanned photo of highest diploma. A scanned copy of the graduation certificate is required before the application deadline if the applicant does not receive the degree certificate before the application deadline. Upon admission, students are required to present their original bachelor's degree certificate along with their degree attestation document upon registration to review their registration qualification. Students who fail to review the registration qualification will have their admission cancelled.
2. Scanned copy of certified academic records. Applicants who will not graduate before the application deadline must submit their current academic record. In this case, completed academic records must be submitted prior to registration.
3. A photocopy of the passport. An ordinary passport valid for a certain period.
4. Tianjin City Government Scholarship Application Form (Fall 2024 Scholarship Application Form).
5. Proof of Chinese or English language certificate.
6. A CV of educational experiences (the start and end times of each educational experience must be uninterrupted, and the educational level must start from high school).
7. Study or research plan. At least 800 characters, in Chinese or English.
8. Two letters of recommendation in English or Chinese from two professors or assistant professors.
9. Acceptance letter from Tianjin University supervisor. Remember to upload it to the application system if you get an acceptance letter. Please click here for professors' contacts.
10. Medical examination record for foreigners. Medical examinations must cover all listed items and must be performed after October 2023.
11. Applicants who are currently in China must submit a scanned copy of their visa and transfer certificate from their current university.
12. A scanned copy of your criminal record or student performance letter.
13. Financial statement of account (bank deposit certificate or work income certificate for the financial sponsor).
14. Other attachments. Scholarship applicants may submit published research papers or official admission notice and relevant certificates to participate in the research project, School of Architecture applicants are required to submit an electronic portfolio and video presentation, etc.

Notes on submission

Applicants are required to submit scanned copies of all required documents at the time of application. All documents submitted must be in Chinese or English; Otherwise, legal translation into Chinese or English is required. Once translated, the original documents and certified translations must be submitted together to the application system.

Please scan original or color certified documents using a scanner. Photos taken by mobile phone or camera cannot be accepted. Copies are also not accepted.

Tianjin University has the right to request applicants to submit original or certified copies of application documents for further qualification checks if the documents submitted are not sufficient. Applicants must ensure that all information and documents provided in this application are original and accurate, otherwise their admission will be cancelled.
