ARI has held essay competitions about Ayn Rand novels for over thirty years, awarding more than $2 million in total prize money to students worldwide! This year we will award more than $30 to the student winners.

Ayn Rand Institute Competition Criteria

Essays will be judged on whether the student is able to argue and justify their point of view – not on whether the Institute agrees with the point of view expressed by the student. Judges will look for writing that is clear, detailed and logically organized. Winning essays must demonstrate an outstanding understanding of philosophical meaning For the anthem .

Terms of the writing competition

• Eligibility: Open to all high school, undergraduate and graduate students worldwide.
• Deadline: Varies depending on the selected novel.
• Prizes: Up to $10000 USD.
• Length: 1500-5000 words.
• english language.
• Style: The essay should be well-written, persuasive, and logically organized.
• Content: The essay should demonstrate a deep understanding of the selected novel and provide a critical analysis of the main ideas and themes.
• Articles must be submitted electronically through the online portal. 
• Articles must be written in English only
• One entry per student in the competition.
• Essays must be the participant's own work. 
• Theft is not permitted and will result in all applications being rejected now and in the future.
• Articles must not infringe any third party rights or intellectual property of any person, company or organization. 

How to participate

1. Click on the “Submit your article” button via the official website.
2. You will be taken to the online portal to participate in the Anthem Essay Contest. 
3. Once there, click “Apply.”
4. Create an account or log in using your existing username and password.
5. Once logged in, complete the application form and upload your article.
6. When each of the four tasks is complete, click “Submit.”
