Scholar visa sponsorship programs from the American IREX organization

The Visa Sponsorship Program supports foreign researchers, scholars, and academics to obtain U.S. exchange visitor visas.

Exchange visitors engage in collaborative research with host organizations in the United States on a research, fellowship, and doctoral basis.

Research-based exchange programs are catalysts for innovation and international research efforts. Companies, research institutes, universities, museums, think tanks and similar institutions collaborate with IREX to host exchange visitors under this programme.

What are the scholar visa sponsorship programs?

Visiting scholar exchange programs offer multiple options for foreign citizens to experience the United States through temporary study or work-related goals. In any given month, there are 170 visitors to the exchange in the United States

The program encourages the exchange of ideas and increased mutual understanding between Americans and people from other countries. Closer ties develop between countries as exchange visitors return home and share their experiences.

As a J-1 visa sponsor designated by the U.S. Department of State, IREX has 45 years of experience helping host institutions and organizations develop customized exchange programs across diverse research specializations.

Those accepted into visiting researcher exchange programs

US J1 visa applicants and young men and women applying for short-term study programs are two categories of research-focused exchange visitors for which IREX is an approved visa sponsor. It is designed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, skills and culture between scientists and institutions in the context of research collaboration.

Exchange visitors and their American counterparts reported mutual benefits from the program, such as gaining cutting-edge skills, new perspectives on scientific problems, and lasting relationships with professionals, institutions, and laboratories around the world.

IREX facilitates a variety of visitor exchange opportunities for:

  • Collaborate or consult as a guest scientist on long-term or short-term research projects
  • Participation in postdoctoral programmes, research-based training or academic seminars
  • Building links with US research teams
  • Teach a course while conducting research at an accredited U.S. college or university
