The TWAS-SISSA-Lincei Research Collaboration Visits Program represents a unique opportunity for young scientists from least developed countries who hold a Master's degree or higher, to visit research laboratories in centers of excellence in Trieste or Udine, Italy, for three months to implement collaborative research projects in areas falling under the umbrella of the Development Goals. The Lincy National Academy and the Advanced International Graduate School (SISSA) collaborate on this programme, providing young scientists from less developed countries with the opportunity to enhance their research capabilities and connect them with global scientific research institutions.

Host countries for research cooperation grants

This program allows scholars to visit centers of excellence in the cities of Trieste and Udine in Italy, where they can access advanced research resources and work with international experts in their fields.

Eligible applicants

Applicants must be citizens of least developed countries as classified by the United Nations. They must also hold a minimum of a master's degree and be 31 years of age or younger by December XNUMX of the year of application. The program especially encourages women scholars to apply.

The visit lasts for three months, during which scientists can benefit from Italy's advanced research environment and establish research connections that will last beyond the visit.

Objectives of the Italy Research Cooperation Grant

The program aims to achieve two main goals:

Application and selection process

The application process is conducted in English and includes submitting a completed and signed application form with the required documents, which include a copy of the passport, a CV, a statement of scholarly interests and future research plans, a complete list of publications, a copy of a master’s degree or higher, an invitation letter from the host institution, and letters. A recent recommendation from two people who know the applicant's work.

Applicants are advised to start the application process early due to its multiple stages, which require studying the host institution's website, communicating with a potential supervisor, obtaining an acceptance letter, and completing the application form with required documents.

Applicants must provide evidence that they will return to their home country upon completion of the fellowship. Partial visits are also ineligible, and applicants cannot participate in other programs during the fellowship period. Only one application is allowed per year within the TWAS and OWSD program group.
