The University of Hamburg Scholarship in Germany supports its international students on their way to the successful completion of their degrees with degree completion grants.

Conditions for the University of Hamburg Germany scholarship

  • It is possible to apply in any study major previously specified by the scholarship at the university
  • The age of the applicant must not exceed what the donor agency previously specified (see the section on applying for the scholarship).
  • You must have a previous degree in accordance with the requirements of the scholarship program
  • Send the application fully supported by the required documents and facts
  • Delay in sending the application or lack of documents will cause your application to be rejected
  • You must meet all conditions and admission criteria at the institution (university).
  • Complete the scholarship application completely within the specified dates
  • The requirement to obtain a recognized academic qualification.

Who is eligible to register?

  1. Be registered at the University of Hamburg. See the video below the explanation, to register at the University of Hamburg online from outside Germany.
  2. They are not German citizens.
  3. are not eligible for BAföG (federal student loan scheme);
  4. They are preparing for or in the final examination phase of their studies;
  5. They have no financial support during this stage (proof required).
  6. International students studying fee-based degree programs are eligible for this scholarship in exceptional cases, but will not have priority in the selection procedure. This item includes students studying in the English language at the university or any other program that requires the payment of international fees.

Advantages of the University of Hamburg Scholarship

  • This scholarship funds tuition fees
  • A monthly stipend will be provided to cover living expenses.
  • The monthly financing amount ranges from €200 to a maximum of €720.
  • An extension may be requested. The maximum financing period is 12 months.
  • Students with Diplomas, Masters or Staatsexamen can apply for a 12-month scholarship with their first application.

Steps to register for the scholarship

  • You first need to get admission to the University of Hamburg.
  • After obtaining acceptance, go to the official website of the scholarship below.
  • Create a new account on the official website.
  • Fill out the grant application information.
  • Attach the documents previously required from you to the application file.
  • Send the application to the donor.

Translation of documents must be done by a certified translator and must always accompany the original documents as well.

  • A copy of the passport or national ID
  • School transcripts are mandatory, or university transcripts, if available.
  • Statement of purpose
  • Motivation letter

  • High school certificate/diploma or university certificate, which must be translated.

Registration periods for the winter semester

It is possible to register for the University of Hamburg scholarship twice a year according to the following:

  • The first time is between October and April every year
  • The second time was between April and October
