The Institute of Current World Affairs offers the Americas Cultural Exchange Fellowship Program to enhance in-depth knowledge of foreign countries and cultures by supporting fellows to join two-year programs of self-research and independent writing abroad.

ICWA welcomes all proposals without restrictions on topics or areas.

Applicants are particularly encouraged to suggest any of the following topics:

  1. Threats to peace and security.
  2. The rights and lives of marginalized people and communities.
  3. Environment, climate change, sustainability and environmental conservation.
  4. Culture and society (literature, art, cinema, etc.).
  5. Post-conflict societies.
  6. The effects of technology and innovation on society.
  7. Young and active.

Conditions for the cultural exchange fellowship

  1. Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm
  2. Considers whether you are ready for the rapid personal development that the fellowship offers.
  3. Fellowships aim to develop local knowledge and writing skills and not necessarily fund research opportunities for those who already possess this skill so it should be suggested
  4. Extensive professional experience in the proposed field is not necessary.
  5. Candidates must be under 36 years of age at the date of submission of the letter of interest.
  6. Applicants must have excellent skills in...  English language

Those wishing to apply for the Institute of Current World Affairs Fellowship should send an initial letter of interest or CV in English to the Institute via email.
