Khalifa University of Science and Technology is an independent, non-profit university headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was established in February 2007 and began teaching in October 2008. The university has two campuses, one in Abu Dhabi and the other in Sharjah in what was known as the University College of Communications.

International applicants from secondary schools outside the UAE

Students who completed their secondary education outside the UAE must submit one of the following certificates to be considered for admission:

Mathematics score of 700 and above
AP Math scores 3 and above
A level mathematics grade C and above

Proof of English language proficiency, which may take one of the following forms:
- Academic IELTS score of at least 6.0 out of 9.0; or
- A score of at least 1400 on the EmSAT English test; or
- A minimum TOEFL score of 79 on the Internet-Based Test (IBT). Note: TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for only two calendar years and must be obtained from an accredited testing center. (TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language | IELTS – International English Language Testing System)
A score of at least 1250 on the EmSAT mathematics test

Conditional admission requirements

Applicants who do not meet the full admission requirements as new English students and who are judged to have the potential to reach these criteria may be offered conditional admission and required to complete the preparatory program within a maximum of 12 months. In addition to the minimum admission criteria, to be considered for conditional admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Proof of English language proficiency, which may take one of the following forms:
- A score of at least 5.5 out of 9.0 in the IELTS Academic test; or
- A score of at least 1250 on the EmSAT English test; or
- Equivalency in other tests approved by the Ministry of Education.
A minimum score of 1000 on the EmSAT mathematics test
Satisfactory entry interview

The Preparatory Program is an intensive, full-time program of developmental study in academic and technical English, mathematics, physics and chemistry required for success in Khalifa University's degree programme. Students who successfully complete the program are granted full admission into degree programmes.

Students who are unable to meet the criterion of successfully completing the preparatory program within 12 months will have their conditional admission withdrawn and will be asked to leave the University.
