The internship opportunity is offered in two main companies:
- Ingelheim: This city is located in Germany, and is the company's main headquarters.
- Biberach: Also in Germany, and it is considered one of the company's locations.
You can choose the venue that suits you based on space availability and your schedule.
As global leaders in the production of innovative medicines, we offer you the opportunity to learn about statistical methods and their applications in drug development. You will accompany us in the daily work as a biostatistician and support us in defining, implementing or reviewing analyses.
This position can be filled in Ingelheim or Biberach.

Your tasks in training students in Germany
During your student internship in Germany, you will have the opportunity to work on new methods for designing and analyzing clinical and non-clinical trials. Tasks can include:
- Examine the literature to understand the current state of statistical methods.
- Develop and/or adapt existing methods for use in experiments including theoretical work, implementation and testing of these methods.
- Simulate datasets to evaluate the performance of new methods.
- Apply new methods to real data sets and interpret results.
- Develop R code, packages, and/or Shiny applications to support use and acceptance of the methods.
Within our group, we specialize in various aspects of statistical methods and their applications including:
- Real world data and practical evidence
- Non-clinical safety research and development
- Randomization procedures
- Biomarker analysis
- Pharmaceutical analyses
- Experimental design including dosing, adaptive designs, multiple testing, and Bayesian statistics
- Statistical methods for evaluating analytical methods and manufacturing processes

- A student in at least the fourth year studying mathematics, statistics, data science or related fields.
- Very good knowledge of theoretical statistics and practical experience in using R statistical software.
- Excellent analytical skills, solution-oriented work style and high desire to learn.
- Dependability, internal motivation, commitment, and being a strong team member.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
What student training in Germany offers you
- As a student intern, you can expect fair compensation (payment of the current minimum wage).
- You will be given 2.5 days of paid vacation for each full month of your internship.
- The full-time internship is 37.5 hours per week (fewer hours can be arranged).
- During your final thesis, you will receive an allowance of €900 per month.
The duration of student training in Germany is from 4 to 6 months. Training can be started several times a year. Please specify the desired period in your request. Upon request, a thesis can also be written on various topics. We ask that you submit your application as soon as possible 7 months before the start of your desired training.
