Working with refugees in Greece
Athens has welcomed many refugees over the past few years due to the disruption of peace in neighboring countries. Many families have been separated during their movement and many organizations have set up different host centers where they can stay until they are reunited with their family members.
As a volunteer for the Sports and Arts with Refugees project, you will work at a local host center for refugee teens and young adults. Your role will be to use sports and the arts as a way for these young people to express themselves, connect with each other and with you, and spend their free time in a meaningful way.
Sports activities will include daily training, playing on outdoor courts and teaching healthy eating habits. Art activities can include musical instruments, photography, drawing, drama lessons, or anything else creative you would like to share!
Volunteers will join the local host center and support it in its daily tasks and will offer young people living there the opportunity to interact with people of different nationalities, build connections, and gain another perspective on the world.
Due to daily interaction with vulnerable groups, volunteers must respect safety restrictions and privacy measures in this project.
You are also required to have an educational background in sports or arts, or some experience in this field. You'll have the support of our local team and recruitment staff.
