To obtain the China Agriculture University Scholarship, applicants must fulfill a set of conditions and requirements. These conditions ensure that candidates are eligible for academic and living support at one of the leading universities in China.
Scholarship applicants must be non-Chinese citizens. This scholarship is intended for international students only, to promote cultural and scientific exchange between China and other countries.
Applicants must be in good physical condition. Any student suffering from diseases that prevent him from entering China according to Chinese laws and regulations, such as mental disorders, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, tuberculosis, or any other infectious diseases, will be rejected.
For master's degree applicants, they must have a bachelor's degree and be no more than 35 years old.
For PhD applicants, they must have a Master's degree and be no more than 40 years old.

If any act of fraud or concealment of information is detected in the application procedure, the application will be immediately rejected and the scholarship qualifications will be refunded. Admitted students must participate in the annual Chinese government scholarship status review. The annual review includes academic performance (including examination results for all courses in the first semester and general presentations in the second semester), attitude to study, attendance, and behaviour, as well as rewards and punishments received.
