Environmental Life Sciences Engineering PhD Scholarship in Singapore
The Life Sciences Engineering PhD Scholarship will be awarded to outstanding students at the Singapore Environmental Life Sciences Engineering Center who demonstrate academic excellence, sound character, and a strong passion for creativity and innovation.
Funding of the Singapore Center for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering
When submitting your application through the university portal, you must indicate that you wish to apply for a research grant in your application. If you are accepted, you will be informed of the type of scholarship you will be awarded.
If you have applied separately for other external scholarships, please indicate this in your application.
Students accepted into the Singapore Center for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering PhD program are subject to the scholarship type and will receive the following:
- Full tuition support for up to 4 years of nomination
- Monthly stipends, up to 4 years from nomination, or submission of the thesis
- Other allowances include:
- IT allowance
- Conference allowance
- Thesis allowance

Singapore Center funding requirements
Students will have to fulfill a minimum of 6 courses at graduate level, of which the Summer Course – Fundamentals of Environmental Life Science Engineering (which is equivalent to XNUMX courses) is a compulsory module.
Unique to the Singapore centre, our students can choose courses from within Nanyang University or both campuses. Note that one of the six courses must be outside the student's main research topic.
Students will also have to pass a written qualifying examination, after passing a minimum of four graduate-level courses (with CGPA/CAP > 3.8).
The summer session must be one of the four graduate-level courses taken. This written qualifying examination must be completed within 15 months of the date of admission.
The university may also require students to take mandatory non-graded courses, such as research ethics, and fulfill teaching hours as part of the student candidacy requirements. my choice:
- If students are interested in taking bachelor's level courses in areas that fall outside of their undergraduate training, students may take up to two (undergraduate) units that will be listed as part of the student's transcript as a pass/fail grade.
- Students registered at the Singapore hub will only be able to attend the bridging modules offered by their university.
Singapore Center Funding Criteria
- It is possible to apply in any study major previously specified by the scholarship at the university
- The age of the applicant must not exceed what the donor agency previously specified (see the section on applying for the scholarship).
- You must have a previous degree in accordance with the requirements of the scholarship program
- Send the application fully supported by the required documents and facts
- Delay in sending the application or lack of documents will cause your application to be rejected
- You must meet all conditions and admission criteria at the institution (university).
- Complete the scholarship application completely within the specified dates
- The requirement to obtain a recognized academic qualification.
- You have the right drive and motivation to apply
Application procedures
Research students at the Singapore Center will be enrolled in a joint postgraduate programme. This program will draw on expertise and postgraduate courses from leading universities in Singapore – Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Students attend either UNC or UNSW, follow a joint doctoral program and graduate with a degree from either university.
There are two treatments per year (August and January). All applications must go through the University's online admission system (please refer to the application procedures set out below).
