Foreign scholarships for non-Saudi women

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers external scholarships for non-Saudi women to enroll in Saudi universities.

Conditions for foreign scholarships for non-Saudi women

The admission requirements and academic regulations applicable to Saudi women at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia apply to female students seeking external scholarships for non-Saudis, and the following conditions apply:

  • The age of the applicant must not be less than (17) years and not more than (25) years for the university stage and the diploma stage for the Institute for Teaching Arabic Language to Speakers of Other Languages.
  • The applicant must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • The applicant must not have obtained another scholarship from one of the educational institutions in the Kingdom.
  • She must not have a previous record at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University.
  • It must not have been more than five years since she obtained her high school diploma.
  • The applicant must pass the medical examination determined by the regulations and instructions, and be medically fit.
  • The applicant must not have been dismissed from one of the educational institutions in the Kingdom
  • Must meet any conditions determined by the University Council and announced at the time of application.
  • The government of the applicant’s country must agree to study in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for countries that require this for Saudi students.
  • The secondary certificate must be certified by the Saudi Cultural Mission in the country of issuance of the certificate.
  • The applicant must bring a certificate of cleanliness from the security services in her country.

Documents required to apply for study under the external scholarship system for non-Saudis

  1. A high school diploma or its equivalent with a transcript of grades certified by the Kingdom’s Cultural Mission in the country of issuance of the certificate, with a translation into Arabic.
  2. A certificate of good conduct and, if this is not possible, bring at least two recommendations from well-known authorities in the applicant’s country.
  3. Valid passport (for applicants).
  4. A letter of approval from the applicant’s country to study in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  5. A newly issued certificate of freedom from security records.
  6. A medical report confirming that the applicant is medically fit, issued no more than three months before the start of submitting the application.

Benefits provided to non-Saudi female students seeking external scholarships

  • Health care for the student throughout her studies.
  • A newly arrived student in the Kingdom will be paid a two-month stipend as a preparation allowance upon arrival.
  • The graduate is paid a three-month graduation stipend for shipping books.
  • Providing discounted meals.
  • Providing housing and appropriate scientific, social, cultural and training care.
  • The student will be compensated for the value of the ticket she came to the Kingdom with at the beginning of her scholarship, provided that the compensation does not exceed the value of the ticket paid to her colleagues from the same country.
  • The female student is paid a monthly stipend in accordance with what is paid to a Saudi female student.
  • The student is paid a stipend of one month annually in exchange for books and references, provided that its disbursement is limited to the statutory period specified for completion of study, without extensions.
  • A stipend of 1000 riyals will be given to the student who obtains an excellent grade in each academic year, at 500 riyals per semester for her advanced level.
  • The student enrolled to study at the university is issued an annual travel ticket to her place of residence at the end of each year, and she can benefit from it at any time, provided that no one else is given it to her and it has not been given to her by another party.
  • The university undertakes the visa and residency service for the student. 

Procedures for applying for a scholarship application at Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University:

  1. Applications are available within specific dates announced on the Deanship of Admissions and Registration page on the university’s website.
  2. Submit via an electronic link included in the advertisement during the period specified for submission.
  3. Upload the required documents via the designated link in PDF or JPEG format and then send them.
  4. When the application is completed, the applicant is given an application number, which enables her to access it to follow up, amend, and know its status.
  5. The applicant is responsible for following up on the registration request for inquiries and amendments within the specified period.
  6. To inquire about the status of the application, you can use the application number and registered ID number (passport) and view the included note
  7. After closing the application link for external scholarships for non-Saudis, the Scholarships Department will complete the acceptance procedures according to the directives of the Ministry of Education and submit this to it. Those who have been finally accepted will be notified after receiving the final approval from the Ministry of Education by email and phone call.
  8. Regulations for terminating the scholarship: According to what is stipulated in the regulations for admission of non-Saudis to higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their care by Cabinet Resolution No. (94) dated 1431/3/29 AH:
  9. The external scholarship student must leave the Kingdom after completing her studies within a period not exceeding three months from the date of its completion, and the university informs the Passport Office of the end of its relationship with the scholarship to follow up on her departure.
  10. If the original program period has expired, it may not be extended by more than half of it.

General provisions and warnings: 

  • Excluding any application that does not meet the conditions and documents required in the application for external grants.
  • Submitting more than one admission application by an applicant during the same period will cancel all applications for her. 
  • Submitting an application to join the university and approving it electronically does not mean final approval, as the accepted student will be notified after her final acceptance.
  • The applicant pledges that all data and documents entered in her application are correct, and if it is found otherwise, the university has the right to reject the application
  • The residency regulations in the Kingdom apply to the scholarship applicant.
  • The applicant for external scholarships is on the university’s record during the scholarship, and she is responsible for it during her stay.
  • An external scholarship student is not entitled to transfer from one university to another, and the university has the right to make exceptions to this in cases it deems appropriate.
  • The university informs the relevant official authorities in the Kingdom of female scholarship students whose postponement, apology, or withdrawal has been accepted, as well as female scholarship students who have dropped out of their studies for any reason, in order to take the necessary measures.
  • An external scholarship student is prohibited from working for companies, institutions, or individuals while studying.
  • The system does not allow transferring the sponsorship of an external scholarship applicant to another party, or bringing her family members to the Kingdom.
