University of Wollongong Scholarships in Dubai
The University of Wollongong in Dubai is a private university founded in 1993 by the Australian University of Wollongong. At its beginning, the number of students was as few as five.
Currently, the university has moved to Knowledge City near Palm Island and the number of students has exceeded 3300. The university awards doctoral and master's degrees in addition to bachelor's and some specialized certificates.
The University of Wollongong in Dubai offers a range of scholarships that provide financial support to new and continuing students. These scholarships provide a fixed percentage discount on tuition costs, but do not cover living expenses and other study-related expenses.
Students can apply for any scholarship, but must meet specific eligibility requirements. They should remember that only one scholarship can be obtained at a time.
Please note that scholarships are not transferable to the University of Wollongong in Australia, unless specified.
Types of scholarships at the University of Wollongong in Dubai
The following scholarship programs are available:
- Academic Merit Scholarships
- Sports Scholarships – Adam Gilchrist Sports Award.
Academic Merit Scholarship
The Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarship at UOWD covers 15% – 50% of tuition fees each semester. The scholarship does not include textbooks, flights, accommodation, living expenses or any other study-related expenses.
Scholarship value
Three categories of scholarships are available for undergraduate students.
- Exemption from tuition fees of 50% each year or
- Exemption from tuition fees of 25% each year. or
- Exemption from tuition fees of 15% each year.
Within each category, the number of scholarships awarded is limited and you must meet the minimum selection criteria for the relevant category for your application to be considered (see table below).

- Applicants must meet all academic and admission criteria for admission to the University and intend to enroll in their desired subject of study at the University of Wollongong in Dubai.

Grant retention requirements
Scholarships awarded to students are reviewed annually at the beginning of the fall semester (unless otherwise stated). In order to retain this scholarship, undergraduate students must meet the following criteria:
- Registration in at least 3 subjects in the fall, winter and spring
- Maintain a GPA of 75 (50% scholarship)
- Maintain a GPA of 65 (25% scholarship)
- Maintain a GPA of 55 (15% scholarship)
- Not receiving “failing” grades.
Also register in United Arab Emirates University Scholarships
Scholarship holders' academic performance will be reviewed prior to the start of the fall semester each year to demonstrate compliance with these academic requirements. If the scholarship holder does not receive failing grades, but does not meet the minimum WAM requirements for his or her scholarship, the scholarship amount will be reduced from 50% to 25%, from 25% to 15%, and from 15% to 0%. Condition applies.
How to enroll in the University of Wollongong in Dubai
- First, go to the university registration website
- Register a new account before the quarterly deadline.
- Complete the university registration application.
- The university will tell you whether you are eligible based on your GPA and degree.
- The university will send you an acceptance or rejection email, or it will attempt to contact you via the phone number you provide during registration.
